is the cobb ap really worth the 700 bucks? and also it seems everyone has the dashawk so its obvious its almost a must have if i plan on gettin the ap should i pick up the dashawk as well they kinda do the same thing btu cobb tunes you as well thanks guys im the most knowledgeable car guy help appreciated

They are completely different things.

The msd dashhawk plugs into your OBD-II (staying there) and is a display to help you monitor boost, air/fuel ratio, temps, etc. You cannot change what your engine does using this.

The Cobb AP is a unit that plugs into your OBD-II to flash your ecu with new maps. Once the new maps are installed, you don't need to keep it plugged in. These maps will change the way your vehicle drives, but there is no monitoring system built in.

Before I bought my MS3 I almost bought a WRX (not STi). One that I test drove (a 2006 WRX) had a stage 2 flash from a cobb ap (plus intake, one cat delete, uppipe and exhaust). WOW!!!! I was very impressed! I can't remember what Cobb claimed whp gains were, but ours are 57 hp and 70 lb/fts. The only thing that will keep me from buying a cobb ap is fear of blowing the motor on a car I am paying off for a few years.... but I'm 100% sure the cobb ap is worth every cent!!

The AP will also display your AF,timing,boost and a few other things.Im kinda glad I never bought a AF gauge since I will be getting the AP and I will use that to display that for me.Im also thinking that the AP for our MS3 will be more then $700 since our market is smaller then the wrx and 350z crowds,Im guessing about $800-$900 but who knows.

Obviously, I was be a bit confused. I just did some research, and yup, you can also use it to monitor parameters while you drive. I never knew that! (hand)

I really hope our motor can handle the Cobb AP because an extra 57hp and 70lb/ft is going to be ridiculous in this car.

We'll be running high 12's to low 13's all day long in the 1/4mile

Where did you find that it will add 57hp and 70tq?I didnt know that.That is great news tho and Im sure they would not release it if it would blow your motor.

I plan on putting it on my car the second I get the sucker!!

I really doubt it's going to cost anymore than any other accessport... the rx8 ap is 695, as well as the evo and the 350z. Theres no reason for them to increase the price. It's totally worth the money, its a complete ems.

Ooppps

Sorry, it was late last night and I was almost 2 days without sleep, those aren't cobb ap numbers, those are vishnu xede numbers.... my bad, I'm just gonna stop posting in this thread all together.......

I don't think it can data log (like dashhawk) that's one thing I wish it had but oh wells, I can live without it. It's not something I "need", just something that would be fun to play around with.

COBB AccessPORT

Projected Release

* Late March it will be in Beta. Final end-user release is scheduled for mid April.

Pricing

* Not yet set

Pre-orders, Deposits, Lists

* At this time we are not making any lists, taking deposits, or doing any types of pre-orders. Once we get information to the dealers they may, but that is something you will have to take up with them and they may make their own announcement on the forms, etc.

Projected Features

* Improve horsepower, torque, and fuel economy at the touch of a button.
* Display vehicle data such as boost, RPM, temperatures and more while you drive.
* Easy installation, no mechanical or computer skills necessary.
* Connects to your vehicle via the OBD-II port conveniently located under your dash.
* Easy-to-read color display.
* Update over the Internet to stay up-to-date with the latest features.
* Not a "piggyback". Once vehicle's computer has been programmed by the AccessPORT, it can be removed and the settings will stay on your computer.
* Not just an "ECU reflash" - AccessPORT features enhancements such as on-the-fly mode switching, data monitors, reading DTCs, performance monitors, boost cuts, boost reduction for speed and gears, fuel cuts, RPM limits, throttle body behavior, corrections, in addition to the normal functions like fueling, timing, and boost.
* The AccessPORT downloads the actual map that was on it. If you are taking your car to the dealership and suspect that they will attempt to update your mapping, then you will have to unmarry it, take it in and have them flash it, then remarry your AccessPORT. This will allow your stock map loaded on your AccessPORT to be the latest factory revision.
* Once the AccessPORT is married to the car only the AccessPORT can flash it. To allow the dealer to flash your car as normal you will have to unmarry the AccessPORT from your car.
* The ODB II dataloging is not locked. Any device that reads the OBD II data can still function properly.
* Only planned for the MazdaSpeed3 at this time.
* Maps made by AccessTUNER Pro facilities can be shared, however the mapping can only be viewed by that AccessTUNER, not the end user nor another AccessTUNER.
* Pre-calibrated to maximize performance of stock or modified vehicles*
* Can be custom tailored to your vehicle by our extensive network of professional tuners**

* For modifications we have done calibrations for, not for every combo of parts
** May not be on initial release

Requested Features (we will try to work in at release or as an update later)

* MazdaSpeed intake compatibility for our Stage 1 & 2 Maps
* LC & FFS
* Higher gas mileage map (Mileage gains TBA)
* Tire size calibrations

Power Gains

* Not released yet
* Features of each map to be specified later
* We will see if we can make the throttle go to 11. Not just make 10 more opener, because 11 is more. Smile One of the things in the testing regimen is the throttle body behavior. At release we will note exactly when it goes to 11.

COBB Off-the-shelf Calibrations Included at Initial Release (are only programmed for the modifications listed)

* Stage 1 (Completely stock)
* Stage 1 + COBB Intake (COBB SF Intake only, otherwise stock)
* Stage 2 (Turbo-back exhaust only, otherwise stock)
* Stage 2 + COBB Intake (Turbo-back exhaust and COBB SF Intake, otherwise stock)
* Stage 2 + FMIC (Turbo-back exhaust and COBB FMIC, otherwise stock)
* Stage 2 + COBB SF Intake + FMIC (turbo-back exhaust, COBB SF Intake, and COBB FMIC, otherwise stock

Repair/Replace/Stolen/Totaled Car Scenarios

* Dies/Busted
Send it in, we repair it, charge you if it was not a warranty issue (something like your dog ate it), and we send it back out.
* AccessPORT is Stolen
You have to send us a copy of a police or insurance report that states that the AccessPORT was stolen. You may have to send us the ECU so that we can get the marriage info off of it. We marry a new AccessPORT to it (or un-marry your ECU) and send them back. We charge for the AccessPORT hardware ($300) which should be being paid to you by your insurance company.
* Car is Totaled and You Could Not Un-marry the AccessPORT
You have to send us a copy of a police or insurance report that states that your car was totaled. You send us in the AccessPORT, we un-marry it (we do charge a small fee for this as it takes time), and send it back. This way it can be married to your new car or sold and another person will be able to use it. If you do not have a police report or insurance paperwork that states that the AccessPORT was stolen then you have to pay for another license ($395).
* You Purchased an AccessPORT from Someone on eBay and it is Married
Assuming you are not able to contact the seller, you have to send us the AccessPORT and we un-marry it. However, as well as the labor fee we charge you for the license ($395) since the old one is still out there making another car super fast.

question for all you that know alot about this AP.

I've read that speed3 fuel pump is good only to 350hp not sure if thats wheel or what.

But if I install and cobb SRI and a complete TBE system and then install the Cobb AP and flash it to a stage 2 wont I be either going over the max HP allowed by the factory fuel pump or getting really close?

If i'm wrong about any of this please correct me.
