I need to check around and see if there are any MT Proteges around. Chances are I won't have any luck, but I'll give it a shot. I'll let ya know if I decide to buy it again, meanwhile feel free to sell it if ya can.

I do believe they're the same tranny minus the LSD. Lemme do some more searching, because I still want this car pretty bad.

Yeah they are running an open diff. Which isn't a huge issue just to get you going. You can always take the lsd out of the msp, get it welded and swap it with the open diff of the junk yard tranny.

Krayzi, Needing a Tranny shouldn't really stop you from buying this if thats all it really needs and you really want it.

A tranny can be had...Metallic36 Has one right now from her MP3 she is parting..I am sure you can work out a deal on that one.

yea man, dont pass this up over a tranny

if your serious in this Im sure quite a few people would be willing to keep an eye out on one for you from your area (thumb)

after all the time it looks like youve got in your car this is probably one of the few cars that is worth upgrading too without that much regret

Sweet ride... if I lived out there, I'd probably roll the dice and buy it. i mean... 9 grand for this car? lol wtf? put another grand or 2 into it to make it sing and you're in business. ****** a

someone also mentioned the windshield... most insurance co's will pay for that to be fixed with no deductable so I wouldn't worry about that. hell, I've gotten mine replaced 7 times already... never for anything major. i just can't stand rock chips

If this is still around by Thursday I'll come down and check it out. I'll bring 50% of the payment with me to put down as a deposit if I decide to get it, and I can do the other 50% when I get the car. You still willing to drive it up here then? It's about 4 hours one way.

Dude..Its not like your giving it away...and it wont move....Helps when you can drive a car away after buying it.
Not dogging you..just stating the facts.

the price is unbelievably fair, just stick to your guns and hang in there. This car will sell. Hell, piranah's car is listed at $26k!!! You should see if any place in Omaha can do a cryo tranny or what it would cost to get a fully built tranny put in and post that with the car.

Last I checked, missing 3rd gear doesnt prevent a car from moving..

Being a niche (within a niche) car, it's going to take a while to find the right type of buyer. Bear in mind that you're trying to sell it in the middle of winter (complete with pictures to prove it!) so that's not exactly going to help you.

Ironically enough, tranny issue aside, your rock-bottom price might be hurting you. Sometimes people (whether they realize it or not) fall back on that age old adage "if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is." I'm not saying there's anything else wrong with the car Sounds like that's probably not the case... but at that price, some might wonder. In the end... caveat emptor

All I know is, if i was closer this is the type of 'risk' (if you can even call buying a car like this for so little a risk) I'd definitely take.

Since the tranny issue's probably holding people back... I'd seriously consider getting it fixed then selling it. I realize that'll be a hassle but so is trying (in vain) to sell a car. We're not talking about a honda accord that appeals to the masses. There are so few (relatively speaking) mazda enthusiasts out there... of them, the % that's willing to buy a problem car and fix it up is what it is. By fixing it yourself, the car will undoubtely appeal to a wider array of people... good luck. hell of a car

if he shredded third gear, its not agood idea to drive the car around. loose pieces in transmission can cause more damage.

There is a magnet in the bottom of the trans at the drain plug.. If he broke anything the pieces are there..

its still not recommended to drive around with broken pieces in the transmission.

also, more pieces can break off the gear and **** other parts up as it falls to the "safety magnet."

Psshhhh... selling it for 21k, 19k, 17k, or 15k didn't get rid of it any sooner.

Im not saying for someone to drive around with it like that.. Just saying if someone bought it, you dont have to result to towing..
