Triple Gauge Install!!!

Alright, im installing my gauges in the morning and need to find a few things. help greatly appreciated.

Oil pressure. wheres the oil pressure sending unit on the motor??? Or how would i hook this up if there isnt any since we dont have an oil gauge to begin with?

Air fuel ratio. wheres the oxygen sensor in this beast?

Im doing it either way but in the morning instead of trying to look for parts for an hour maybe a few people know where this stuff is already.

P.S. I dont want to buy a manual on the car unfortunately. im trying to be a cheap ass and save myself eleventy million dollars on a book i cant afford right now, and cant (dont want to) wait for.

dont you tap into a/f ratios from the downpipe or exhaust?

yea i believe you find the sensor that comes out of the exhaust and find the first sending unit and tap into the wires that run to it. but im not sure the wire scheme. you can also tap into the ecu side of the sensor but i dont have the ecu wiring diagram...DOH!

Unless you get a wideband setup, your AF gauge is nothing more than a light show. Did you not at least get a boost gauge? EGT? Wideband?

unfortunately i only have the narrow band, but i have an air/fuel monitor through my apexi TT. the "light show" is just a quick see on how things are doing. if it goes out of wack then i know to check the raw numbers.

I bought three carbon fiber series gauges....boost, air/fuel narrow band, and oil pressure for 100 bucks. cant really complain on what i got. plus the apexi lipstick tt for 60. all in all id say thats a pretty good deal.

anyway, off to hook it all up. ill post pictures tonight for everyone to see how it all comes out. ill take some picture along the way for any future installers.

i checked out the other post...looks great man!!!!

I just did my 3 gauge install this weekend as well. we have the boost gauge and oil pressure gauge knocked out no problems. We arent really sure what wire to go into for the air/fuel ration either..did you get yours up and running? where did you end up going in?

well i hit up the sensor in the down pipe. if you go to the left of the motor and look towards the back of the engine you can see it sticking out conveniently. I tapped into EVERY WIRE!!!!! the only one i got a response from is the yellow wire. Only one problem. My gauge blinks in stoich and rich. let me explain this. it blinks fast in the middle of stoich and blinks at the end of rich. it seems like when i hit the throttle it starts to move a little from the blinking light in stoich but it doesnt do much.

Does anyone have anything to say about this? im at a lost for words and im sooooo sick of working on this damn gauge.

also can you PM me and give me a quick write up on how you did your oil gauge to save me the hassle?

Like i tried to tell you, that gauge is simply a light show my friend. You need a wideband.

i know this. i bought the gauge with the other two for 100 bucks. it was a cheap deal i couldnt pass up. i cant afford the wideband yet so im just using it for a filler and all i need to do it tap into the old wiring for a quick install if the wideband when i get it. until then i need this on one work or the other one wont work either. so does anybody know what could be the problem. i checked the ground numerous times and tried a few different spots in fear it would be a bad ground but no go. the sensor is tapped into the yellow wire out of the sensor. it was the only one that gave me a readout. maybe i can try it further up the line. if anyone has installed any a/f gauge. please let me know where you got a working readout. maybe further up the line towards the ecu or something??? thanks.

Its reading as much info as it can. Which AF gauge did you get?

autometers carbon fiber series. all three are the carbon fiber series. i hooked the red up to a constant power, the black to a good ground and the purple to the yellow wire coming out of the O2 from the exhausts downpipe. also...when i start up the car originally it seems to start out rich and move down towards stoich like normal then starts to blink stoich and rich. its like it begins to work properly then bonks.

alright so i just brought my MS3 in for a quick check up and asked the speed technician why my car wasnt reading a/f correctly. he said the O2 sensor reads in milli amps not volts, thats why the meter doesnt move all that much because its not getting the read out required for the gauge. normally the graph on the a/f is jagged with lots of ups and downs. the MS3 just has tiny blips hardly noticeable to the a/f gauge. does anybody know if there is a converter i could connect? you can get the raw numbers without the converter but its painful to look at the a/f meter blink.

Welp, EVERY car reads the same way, thats why i told those gauges are a light show. You need a WIDEBAND if you want an accurate reading.
