Broken seal?

well... just went to do my usual oil change... the guy who does my oil change is a very good friend of mine, hes working on midas now... we were discussing prices and stuff abouta 2.5 custom job for the exhaust pipe, and then as we were walking under my car and he was with a flashlight checking the engine, he noticed the oil leak on that thing. I forgot the full name, its supposed to be something front left cv axle seal or something like that... anyway, leaking....

so i started wondering if this thing has anything to do with the wonderful transmission performance im getting or some of you are.

i am sorry, as much as i love my car, because i did this after washing and waxing it, seems to me like mazda has betrayed my trust, bushings, rattles, whistles, clutch shudder, and now this? and no more than 15k?

:D Don't you just love that import superiority!:D

I am not raging on you but all those things you mentioned come with a car like the one you bought. If you want German quality you have to buy it. Some things we just have to live with. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Are you taking it back to the dealer?

i hope you mean something else than VW when you say German quality.... and isnt that an import too?? :p

Im taking it to the dealer whenever i get back from an overseas trip im making tomorrow. But i was going for a Miata, but i have had it with mazda, i will probably save more, and try to reach a new nissan Z, if not i dunno yet.

On another side, i come from having 5 mazdas, 3 of those were my dads, two 323 and later a 626, all of them bullet proof quality, but now, those where in the late 80s and early 90s, i came to the states and got a 1993 miata, not even close to all this problems with 65k miles when i got it. So, as you can tell, i did trust mazda, but this MP3 experience is sure making me upset.

Hey man, don't knock the vdubs! I had a kick ass 1995 Golf Sport. (wanna-be GTI, all suspensions and exhaust mods minus the V6) Only issue I EVER had was a rattling heat shield, and that didn't happen until after I ran over a deer carcass at 75Mph on the interstate. (Long story)
It was bulletproof, so much so that I sold it to my brother last year, and now he's wondering why he didn't get a vdub earlier.

Ok, now back to your car. Man, that sucks. Sorry bout it, but that's what warranties are for. But look at it this way, you still have a SWEET ride!. Gotta weigh the opportunity cost here. 1st and only run production of a car + a few minor tweaky problems vs. driving a Honda that everyone and their grandma owns. In my opinion, I'm happy with my Mazda. :)

Oh, and on the German kick, I had 2 BMWs before the VW. a 1988 528E and a 1977 320i. Now those cars were badass, especially considering I was between 17 and 20 when I had them. (No, it wasn't mommy and daddies money, I worked 80+hours a week during the summers and 40+ during college, and yes, I graduated HS at 17)
I miss the 528 most of all. It had 195000 miles on it and still ran like a bat out of hell. :)

curiosity got me...LT1/LS1 power...is your name due to the ownership of a Corvette? That was the name of one of the bad ass engines in the early to mid 90's right? :)
I'm just testing my memory...thanks

The LT1 was for Camaro's, Impalla SS, and Vettes. Different variations of that engine were used depending on the car.

In 1998 that all changed and the LS1 was created and placed in Camaro's and Vettes. Different variations of course. To my knowledge Vettes had this engine in 1997.

I used to have an LT1 now I have an LS1.

2002 Camaro SS

cool. Thanks, congrats on the new ride. those things are bad a$$. A guy down the street at my old house had one and I knew every time he was going somewhere due to the rumble that went through the block. :D :)
