2015 CX-5 Oil Leak Above Alternator

About the tensioner. My '14 is OK. My '16 and '17 suffered from this. I think Mazda switched part supplier between '14 and '16.... your '15 might be OK.

PHEV Hybrid CX-90: Should I be worried about very hot weather?

50-60 F should be fine. A couple years back, many Teslas in Sierra mountains were stranded in snow. It took 45 mins to start charging ... yes, it took that long to warm up battery first.

PHEV Hybrid CX-90: Should I be worried about very hot weather?

These Li-Ion batteries on the market contain liquid electrolyte. In cold weather, the mobility (frozen electrolyte) suffers. Range goes down. That is why many companies are developing solid-state batteries. Semi solid-state batteries came out recently ... not sure about how they handle cold...

    Rear brake job price reasonable?

In SF bay area, dealers want $500 just for the pad replacement. I had to go to a remote (40 miles away) dealer to have it done for $350.

2015 CX-5 Oil Leak Above Alternator

Seems like Timing Chain Cover issue to me also. My '14 Mazda3 has this issue... Not fixed. Dealer wants $1700 for it 2 yrs ago. I just clean it once in a while and monitor it. No oil on the floor. No worry from me.

Aftermarket power liftgate struts? 2018 CX-5

According to the Car Care Nut YTber... Better to replace both together so that left-right is balanced in motion. BTW, price wise, you guys might be comparing Mazda genuine parts vs. aftermarket replacement parts. Good luck with the latter. Fake/cheap parts are everywhere. Some even have Mazda...

    Aftermarket warranties

My experience of a 3rd party ext warranty on a '98 BMW 540iA. (BMW did not carry one. 3rd party was the only choice) Note that, that BMW had so many issues after OEM warranty. (BMW= Break My Wallet) 1. about 50% covered, cost-wise, all repairs considered. Note that tear-n-wear items were...

Last check before taking plunge on 2024 CX-5 Carbon Edition

KISS. Keep it simple silly ;) ... more reliable. My '16 Mazda6 GT has the iEloop tech. Mazda claims it saves 1-2mpg. I barely notice that after owning it for 8yrs. The downside is: 1. expensive battery swap - AGM + reprogramming at dealership (my local dealer wants $500) Did it once 4 yrs ago...

First Auto Tranny Fluid Change at 95k (2015 CX-5)

If automakers really believe in lifetime something, they should have lifetime warranty to go with it. The fact is they don't, so don't ever believe it. Do ATF change from time to time.

First Auto Tranny Fluid Change at 95k (2015 CX-5)

Lifetime ATF started as a marketing talking point. I think the German started this. My '98 E39 BMW 540iA had this. AT operates at lower temp (about 193F), much lower than engine oil. It deteriorates slower. However, there is still debris coming out of the gears, plates, etc. I have ATF...

2021 Mazda CX-5 Oil Leak question

I got it on my '14 Mazda3 identified 2-3 yrs ago. (timing chain cover seepage) My advice is: don't bother fixing it unless you see oil on the floor. Just wipe it clean from time to time. After 2-3 yrs, my Mazda3 still runs happily. No oil on the floor. Dealer wanted $1700 to do it for me. In...

2017 CX-5 Grand Select vs 2021 Grand Touring

to OP: Please check the belt tensioner of the '17 one you mentioned. Both of my Mazdas ('16 Mazda6 and '17 CX5) suffers from this infamous issue. (no other issue at all) The one on my '16 was replaced since it started to make squeaking noise when I revved engine. This happened after 1-2 yrs...

    Strange noise after new tires

First, I think you need to isolate the problem. Is it the tire, or the car? To do that, get a set of tires/wheels and swap them on. See if the problem remains. If yes, it is not the tire. Otherwise, it is the tire. You can then go from there. It should be easy for dealer to do this since they...
