No, not for me. In my case even though I am not using the cars navigation other than having the maps on, I'm getting verbal warnings of traffic ahead.

That must be what's going on but the interesting thing is that my 3-month trial when I bought the car did not include traffic info, but now I'm getting it.

We no longer have Sirius XM (trial period ended) but they keep sending me Emails and letters trying to get be to sign up. So maybe this is another way to get me interested. We are taking a long road trip next week so will be interesting to see if I get alerts along the way.

Very odd...have had our CX5 new since Jan 2024 and am using a Navigation Card off of Ebay. It has never given us any traffic info. Today, suddenly it said "congestion ahead" and showed yellow over the road ahead. We were not using the nagivation but had the screen on showing the map. Anyone...

We are in! We looked at a Toyotas hybrids when replacing our 2018 CX5 but did not like the styling. So purchased a 2024 CX5 Turbo. Would have got a hybrid CX5 if they offered them here in the US.

Thanks for all the suggestions but it looks like we will just have to unplug it each time!

The reason is we have a small electric cooler bag that plugs into that socket to keep stuff cold in the summer. I would love to just keep it plugged in all the time but if I were to forget to hit the off switch on the bag when the car is not running it would run the battery down for sure.

Our 2024 CX5's power port in the trunk is always on even with the car is off. Anyway to make it switch off when the car is off? Is there a secret setting to do this?

Thats how our 2018 worked but our 2024 turns the music on when we start the car even if it was off when we turned the car off. Will have to try turning the volume to zero when turning off the car to see if that does it. Thanks for all the suggestions!

When we first started out 2018 CX5 the music (from thumb drive) would not come on until we hit the volume button. But in our 2024 CX5 the music starts to play as soon as we turn on the car. Any way to set it to not turn on when we first turn on the car??

May have nothing to do with it but I've heard that clicking once in a while from our 2018 CX5 and it was coming from the ventilation system. Turn off the AC/heat and see if it goes away.

You should just call Mazda Corp directly and file a complained with them and ask them for help with paying for the repair. Sometimes they will split the cost of the repair with you.

Agree with above...just too many ways for them not to pay and too many requirements & hoops you have to jump through to get them to pay. Which means, they will never pay.

To add to that, did you always use your dealer for maintenance? Because that supposedly makes it more likely Mazda will show goodwill in these situations.

Great the body shop picked up the bill from the dealer! Just don't see good customer service like that anymore.

I don't know about that. The fact that the problem does exist as documented over at the NHTSA and it seems Mazda is ignoring the issue, may make the case stronger by showing the negligence of Mazda for not properly addressing the issue for owners. Sooner or later the hot oil going all over a hot...

They should be looking at the cracked cylinder heads of the NA CX5s causing hot oil to shoot all over the engine!
