CX-5 Jack points, Pinchweld Heights, Bottlejacks and Pucks

https://youtu.be/WUXrGrrVeIU?feature=shared Hah, here’s a video of the rear wheel risk I think N7 was referring to. Found a couple videos of what I did with FWD, but I’ve never had a RWD vehicle to attempt this.

CX-5 Jack points, Pinchweld Heights, Bottlejacks and Pucks

I used them only a couple more times after my boneheaded incident. When I did, I placed the bottom of the ramps against the concrete lip between my garage floor and the driveway. There was no way for the ramps to slide backwards with the wheels spinning if that makes sense. The 1/2” bump from...

CX-5 Jack points, Pinchweld Heights, Bottlejacks and Pucks

Mine had the rubber feet too. Again, chalk it up to bad technique. I’ll never get that squeal/shriek sound out of my memory: plastic and rubber feet shooting across concrete like Clark Griswold going downhill on snow on that greased up saucer.

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Yeah, it was the ‘13. I won’t be swapping the brake fluid until ~2026 😂

CX-5 Jack points, Pinchweld Heights, Bottlejacks and Pucks

Over 10 years ago, I was a complete dummy and drove my CX-5 over a set of Rhino Ramps. I pressed the gas and the car crept halfway up the ramps. Movement stalled so I applied more pressure to the gas pedal. The ramps shot out from under the front wheels and I was immediately humbled. 1) I...

What have you done to your CX-5 today?

I had really good things to say after using those pads in conjunction with Advance Auto Parts store brand rotors and SL6 brake fluid. Less dust than OEM with good bite.

    Guide ATF Drain/Fill

Thats what I would do as the manufacturer. Fill a consistently repeatable minimum amount to ensure function. Why fill more at the factory then what is needed? .25 quarts x 100000 vehicles a year: 25000 quarts of transmission fluid saved per year. 100000 vehicles that meet spec without wasting...

Auto Headlights always on, light/rain sensor failure? 2018 CX-5

Making progress! The screen has been replaced to address ghost touch. Now I can adjust settings more confidently without a phantom screwing them up lol. As I suspected, car on Auto lights dims the display (my mother in law only noticed it when in reverse). Video attached to demonstrate that...

2016 Mazda CX-5 Air filter replacement interval?

My bad, I forgot the initial state of the OPs vehicle. I’d also do mileage if not in severe conditions.

2016 Mazda CX-5 Air filter replacement interval?

For warranty purposes, whichever one comes first (time or mileage).

    Guide ATF Drain/Fill

Mine was low from the factory when I drained and filled my ‘13 at 50k miles.

2013~2016 CX-5 Transfer Case, Front Differential part questions

Front diff and transfer case are the same thing. Good to hear you changed the rear differential fluid at the back of the car. At the front of the car, you can change the transfer case fluid and the transmission fluid.

2016 Mazda CX-5 Air filter replacement interval?

I wouldnt say detrimental, but there’s a con. Brand new filters do not filter as efficiently as those some use. They filter more after some clogging if that makes sense. No real benefit to changing them more often than necessary.

Auto Headlights always on, light/rain sensor failure? 2018 CX-5

I also have the adhesive sheet ordered from MazdaSwag. That should be here soon. I’m sure I’ll be waiting longer for the aftermarket bracket from AliExpress. That’ll give me time to choose an epoxy for the bracket

Question about 2021 CX-5 GT with premium package

+1 on this strategy. I’ve always felt like I got an ok deal if I can get the price of the car alone less than the “true car” value. I don’t sweat tax tag or title as those are non-negotiable. I also don’t want to pay for anything extra either like dealer add ons. I simply want what came on the...

Auto Headlights always on, light/rain sensor failure? 2018 CX-5

If I’m reading the shop directions right, it’s applicable if you replace the sensor. Even then it looks like all you do is change the sensitivity away from medium and back to medium? I dunno, haven’t dug that far yet Mazda CX-5 Service & Repair Manual - Rain Sensor Removal/Installation - Wipers

Auto Headlights always on, light/rain sensor failure? 2018 CX-5

Safelite is a pain in the ass, lol. It’s been over a year (out of warranty), so I’ll go that route if this bracket doesn’t fit right. Seeing how they cut corners this badly with the windshield last time, I don’t want to have them touch the car again.

Question about 2021 CX-5 GT with premium package

It was the correct move IMO, sorry for the hassle. Low oil light 3 times on different days would be too much for me to gamble on. When you shop for the new car, try to see if you can get a great deal when haggling. Mazdas in my area don’t seem to be moving off the lot and there could be some...

Auto Headlights always on, light/rain sensor failure? 2018 CX-5

Giving AliExpress a try for the pictured bracket. As I feared, can’t find a OEM part as it’s part of the windshield. The appearance is consistent with a 2019 bracket I saw in an eBay picture. Wish me luck!
