CX-90 Premium Towing Experiences?

Hi everyone -

I've been following the CX-90 with interest given it's been the first Mazda SUV that seems to have enough towing capacity to haul a race car. I'm figuring a 1550 lb trailer and a 2525 lb race car gives me some overhead for extra wheels, tools, jacks, etc.

Does anyone have any experience towing with the CX-90 with a brake controller and a ~4500lb load?

Hello. I have test towed the cx90 with approx 4200lb over a 24 hour period - the car itself was perfectly behaved and more. However on return of the vehicle, I was told the Mazda cx90 only has a tow ball down weight of 330lbs (I should have checked myself - unfortunately just made an assumption). Using the 10% rule this is well below 420lbs which is a real concern for me. I was also told there were no upgrades available which is disappointing. I have seen the review where the car is towing the race car with a down weight over 330lbs so I'm not sure how that was managed at all?

The manual does say 10-15% of the trailer weight as a max, i couldn't find any number of lb listed, nevermind 330. Where did your source get the info?

These are the Aussie specs
Hmmm. I don't know how it works there. By chance are you more aligned with european limits? I know there the % on the tongue is often lower, although even that wouldn't explain it as that % is applied to a higher tow capacity and thus usually the same or similar lb to usa/can.

I guess what I'm saying is, you got me stumped. If you find out what's up, update us.
